The 4th Principle of Reiki
The 4th Principle of Reiki: Just for today, I will do my work Honestly.
As seen narrowly, the 4th Reiki Principle is reminding us to do just what it says...do our work with honest intentions. However, what this priniciple is really asking us to do is to be honest in EVERY step that we take. This is not just at our paid jobs, with our families and friends, during our activities, or even in volunteer positions...but in EVERY waking moment of our lives.
Living in honesty requires us to live with AWARENESS. We are aware of our thoughts, our words, our actions, and our intentions. When we live with awareness, we see in a truthful light where our
thoughts and actions are truly stemming from. We can ask ourselves these questions to discover their orgin:
*Where are my thoughts, words, and actions truly
coming from?
*Are they coming from a place of light and positivity
or are they coming from a negative dark place?
*Am I happy with my life?
*Am I doing a job that I love?
*Am I satisfied with the people I surround myself
with?
*What activites bring me the most joy?
*Have I been stressed out lately?
*Am I unhappy with any area of my life?
*Could one positive or negative factor be influencing
other areas of my life?
Reviewing our lives and asking ourselves these hard questions allows us to break down situations separately, so we may have a more accurate and
honest picture. We become aware of an honest view of our lives and how it effects every step we take.
Living in honesty and awareness then requires us to take RESPONSIBILITY concerning our intentions, thoughts, words, and actions. Now that we are aware of them and their origin, what will we DO with what we find?
*Do I spread the positivity I get from the joyous
areas in my life?
*Do I allow negative thoughts and judgements to slip
in and out of my mind?
*How do these thoughts and judgements effect
myself and others?
*Do I allow these thoughts to materialize and
transform into potentially harmful words or
behaviors that may effect myself and others?
*Am I living and accepting a status quo?
*Am I taking ACTION to make my life more full and
joyous?
*What can I do to secure my positive mind frame
and support my positive life choices?
Living life honestly is not an easy task. It takes time, dedication, inner strength, confidence, and endurance. But, if we place ourselves and our true happiness first and live a life based on dedication to our true calling from a Higher Divine source, then doing our work honestly will become second nature.
Blessings for a day full of honesty, awareness, and responsibility!
